Soil Excavation

Several years ago one of our clients approached us to solve a particular problem of which no existing solution existed.  An existing postensioned slab had experienced large differential edge heave that was bringing severe damage to the structure.  A manometer survey indicated that it had as much as 2 ½ inches of floor elevation difference.  We developed the following protocol as an experimental solution:

1. Underpin the “heaved” section of the structure using modified helical piers.

2. Excavate under the existing post tensioned slab using proprietary technology as far back as 15’ into the interior areas.

3. Lower the house to the most practical functioning elevation.

4. Grout under the slab using a proprietary pattern to minimize risk of future heaving.

5. Install cut off walls to prevent future water intrusion.

Since then we have install several similar fixes including one on a standard footing, and stem/floating slab.  All projects met with outstanding results that have proving to be permanent solutions.
